Who is the singing aerialist?
Marcy Richardson, aka OperaGaga, is an opera singing aerialist known around the world for her iconic work marrying opera & aerial arts. Based in New York, she performs in Aerial Hoop, Aerial Silks, Pole, and Burlesque. She has appeared as a soloist everywhere from Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, to many of NYC’s premiere entertainment spots for nightlife entertainment, including Théâtre XIV, Duane Park, The Slipper Room, DROM, House of Yes, Le Poisson Rouge, Dixon Place, Secret Loft NYC, and Sid Gold’s Request Room. She has brought the art of combining opera & aerial arts to entertainment companies worldwide, including Company XIV, Hot Box Girls Vienna & NYC, Spiegelworld, Secret Circus, AERA Dance, Cirque Central Entertainment, Virginia Opera, Opera Columbus, LE Miami, and more.
With over 20 years of voice training and experience on the operatic stage and 8 years of pole and aerial training, she got her start in the air as a competitive pole dancer, and is the 2014 Pole Sport Organization National Level 4 Championship winner. She most recently took home the 2018 Dora Award for Best Female Performance in an opera for her aerial and vocal portrayal of Amour in Gluck's Orphée with Against The Grain Theater.
